Ellenborough Park, Cheltenham Wedding Photography

Gorgeous couple, incredible sunset and excellent venue….

That’ll do me!

Ellenborough Park is one of my favourite venues, and Laura and Cliff are a gorgeous, down-to-earth couple. So it was always going to be a good day.

Nick Church Photography were providing both photography and a wedding film, so I had Avril handing the video side while I worked on the photos. Couples are increasingly choosing both options for their weddings, and so it’s great to be building a team of talent to offer this.

It was not the first time I’d met Cliff and Laura. Of course I meet all couples that select Nick Church Photography during the consultation meeting but, as many couples do, Cliff and Laura selected an Engagement Photosession which we did at Ellenborough Park a few months before.

These sessions are a really great idea. As well as getting to work together, they see how painless and relaxed the whole process is meaning no anxiety about photos on the day. More relaxed couples, more beautiful pictures, so a win win. As a bonus they get some lovely pictures to look back on before they were Mr and Mrs Wright!

Ellenborough Park is one of those venues that just ‘get’s it right’. Nothing is too much bother, everything runs smoothly, and the day flows wonderfully from start to finish with the couples as the teams’ focus for the day. Some couples book me before a venue and if so, Liz Lane and the team at Ellenborough Park are one of the places I send them!

The bride Laura, her bridesmaid (and Sister) Emily, and her Mum Tracey were all applying their own makeup. Great bit of wedding DIY there and what a great job they did. The other advantage of this was that it is then easy to create lovely photos with the window light as the girls position themselves to get as much light as possible. I love these shots.

Talking of light, I always let my couples know that while I work hard to keep to an agreed schedule, if there is a spectacular sunset I just might have to delay things slightly. Well… I’m sorry, there was, and I did.

In fact, the sunset was simply unbelievable and it would have been a crime to not shoot in it; flares of orange and blue light all the way up from Cheltenham town to the venue. I kept the shoot as short as possible, and hopefully managed to get Laura and Cliff back before Chef got too irritated (I wouldn’t of blamed her/him, but decided to risk it). But I’m so pleased we did this - and I know the couple love these. I’m thinking this would make great wall art.

Avril and I had a really incredible day - the wedding was warm, relaxed and a truly loving and lovely occasion to be a small part of. Everything fell perfectly into place, without rush or drama. This is why Ellenborough Park is right up my street…

Here are some photos that I feel best tell the story of the day.
